GOP Party Shifting to Trump Party

First of all, I sincerely apologize for delay due to the other priorities that unexpectedly drew my attention during this week. Finally…I, Marian from Georgia, issued this statement on last Tuesday’s primary election results in five states, including Virginia and South Carolina.

Congratulations to Corey Stewart for his great victory for Senator from Virginia. Now he runs against a total stiff, Tim Kaine, who is weak on crime and borders, and wants to raise your taxes through the roof. Don’t underestimate Corey, a major chance of winning! (Donald J. Trump tweeted on 6/13/18 at 5:55 AM EST)

WHOA! I am disgustingly appalled by 45th U.S. President Donald Trump’s congratulatory tweet with his reckless endorsement of neo-Confederate, white supremacist and racist Republican nominee Corey Stewart. Corey is facing my endorsed candidate, incumbent Democratic nominee Tim Kaine, in Virginia’s U.S. Senate general election. I strongly condemn President Trump’s shameful endorsement of this racist, who is UNFIT in the U.S. Congress or any other public office. This sickened my stomach!

Corey Stewart narrowly defeated state delegate Nick Freitas, a moderate, by only 2% along with third candidate (pastor E.W. Jackson). I originally hoped that either Freitas or Jackson should win the Republican nomination taking on incumbent Democrat Tim Kaine. Freitas received endorsements from U.S. Senators Mike Lee (R-UT) and Rand Paul (R-KY) and many other federal, statewide and local politicians. Jackson received endorsements from a few federal and statewide politicians as well. Stewart never received endorsements from the federal or statewide politicians at all.

On the contrary, I proudly commend the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) for DECLINING to endorse this horrible GOP nominee against Kaine in Virginia’s U.S. Senate general election, reminding me of Alabama’s 2017 controversial Republican nominee (racist and pedophile Roy Moore). Obviously, NRSC has denounced Stewart’s neo-Confederate, White Supremacy and other racisms that have NO place in the U.S. Congress. (per Politico, 6/13/18)

Sen. Cory Gardner tells me NRSC has NO plans to endorse VA Senate candidate Corey Stewart, despite Trump tweet expressing support. “We have a big map, right now we are focused on Florida, North Dakota, Missouri, Indiana. I don’t see Virginia in it.” (CNN senior congressional correspondent Manu Raju tweeted on 6/13/18 at 11:44 AM EST)

I can understand why NRSC declined to post a ‘winner Corey Stewart’ congratulation on their official Twitter account while they posted the congratulatory tweets of only two winners from Nevada (incumbent Dean Heller) and North Dakota (U.S. Representative Kevin Cramer) last Tuesday night. Kudos to NRSC for their strong disavow of this racist and unqualified nominee from Virginia!

Due to respect of the Republican Party, I absolutely agree with former Virginia Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling’s good point about the darkest and saddest days for today’s Republican Party during Trump’s presidential era. (per The Hill, 6/13/18)

I am extremely disappointed that a candidate like Corey Stewart could win the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. This is clearly not the Republican Party I once knew, loved and proudly served. Every time I think things can’t get worse they do, and there is no end in sight. (Bill Bolling tweeted on 6/12/18 at 9:20 PM EST)

Larry Sabato, a director of the UVA Center for Politics, has valid points about the Republican Party shifting to the new Trump Party. Here are his three tweets:

Rep. Mark Sanford (R-SC), who has criticized Trump, loses to very pro-Trump primary challenger. As if more evidence was needed, the Republican party is now the Trump party almost everywhere. (Sabato tweeted on 6/12/18 at 10:55 PM EST)

It really isn’t R vs D anymore. It’s T vs D. T for Trump. Truth in advertising should apply to parties. (Sabato tweeted on 6/13/18 at 8:57 AM EST)

Longtime major GOP donors and campaign workers in VA have told me last night and today that with Corey Stewart’s nomination, they are “done” with the party. Last straw, they say. Hard to know how widespread this is, but it’s not good news for Republicans. (Sabato tweeted on 6/13/18 at 1:47 PM EST)

I can understand why most of more than 20 Republican congressional members (including U.S. Senators Jeff Flake of Arizona and Bob Corker of Tennessee) who are strong critics of President Trump are retiring from the U.S. Congress by the end of this year for good. For this reason, I am deeply troubled by Trump’s wrath that is really scaring many Republicans (and even Democrats) to death. Whew! It is clear that President Trump recklessly dares to push the U.S. Congress TOO HARD to get the legislations passed as quick as they could.

Under the First Amendment, the politicians of all parties have their rights of free speech that they can dare to criticize President Trump for many good reasons, especially his bigotry, immaturity and other controversial issues. While I strongly stand with many Republicans criticizing or rebuking Trump, some incumbent Republicans are in danger facing their re-elections based on their critics of President Trump. For instance, all three incumbents have faced accusation of being insufficiently support of the sitting president in the partisan primary races:

  • Robert Pittenger (moderate, NC-09) lost to right-wing conservative and pro-Trump challenger, Pastor Mark Harris. (5/8/18)
  • Martha Roby (moderate, AL-02) was forced into a primary runoff, citing her repudiation of Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. (6/5/18)
  • Former Governor Mark Sanford (conservative, SC-01) embarrassingly lost to the heavy underdog rival and pro-Trump challenger, Katie Arrington, because of his strong critics of Trump. (6/12/18)

It is really very SAD that the Republican Party appear to shift to the new Trump Party. I cannot imagine how bigot businessman Donald Trump was elected to become the 45th President of the United States of America in November 2016. Oh my God! He is the worst U.S. President ever I have seen in my whole life!

Regardless of the political party, I would dare to speak out with strong critics about President Trump’s bigotry, bad tempers and immaturity that really embarrass the U.S. Congress and millions American citizens. Of course, in any Republican federal politician’s shoes, I would rather retire from the U.S. Congress, instead of seeking a re-election. I could NOT stand who is in office, especially with his bigotry, bad tempers and immaturity! Trump’s egoistic attitude is sickening my stomach! YIKES!

Therefore, I strongly urge all Virginia voters to support my endorsed candidate, Democratic nominee Tim Kaine, to get re-elected in the U.S. Senate race. Bring Tim back!
