Biden’s Nomination for SCOTUS
Last month, President Joe Biden (D-DE) nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson for the Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS). She currently serves as a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit since last year. She is set to replace retiring Justice Stephen Breyer and become the first black female Justice ever in SCOTUS history. I have so much respect for her that she has numerous credentials of the law. Although I have been a Democrat with my centrist-wing view, I don’t always agree with Judge Jackson on some issues.
I have some concerns about her overall judicial philosophy. She seems too soft on crimes, especially siding with the sexual criminals over the suffering victims. Since I grew up in the Christian family with the strict disciplines on the social issues, I always side with the victims (especially women and children). As I have been female since birth, I feel so sympathetic on the women and children who have suffered from the domestic violences or sexual assaults from the husbands, fathers or insane men. I strongly oppose the violent criminals of all types such as rapists, murderers, torturers, domestic abusers, molesters, kidnappers, burglars, etc. you name it. Based on my strong family beliefs, I may be too harsh on the violent criminals but I cannot help with it.
During the confirmation hearing on the Senate Judiciary Committee, I was appalled and annoyed in embarrassment that Judge Jackson refused to answer the question from U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) about a definition of the “woman” word. Wow! I can’t believe how she dares to INSULT the American women including myself! I am deeply troubled by Judge Jackson’s lacks of commitment on how to protect the rights of all Americans especially women and children. Like I’ve said earlier, she is too weak on crimes, especially sexual criminals. What a hypocrite she is!
Another reason why I’m deeply troubled that numerous left-wing progressive groups have pushed President Biden so hard to nominate someone based its race and/or gender over the judicial qualifications. It is WRONG! Judge Jackson may be a nice woman; however, I’m very skeptical of her judicial philosophy that doesn’t seem qualified very well for the SCOTUS Justice position.
For example, Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer spoke out against court-packing during their time on the Supreme Court. Judge Jackson has dodged whether she supports or opposes the court-packing that deeply concerns me. American citizens deserve to hear Jackson’s answer concerning the court-packing issue during the confirmation hearing!
Therefore, regardless of the political party, I would definitely break with President Biden and centrist Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia that I cannot in good conscience support Biden’s nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson for the Associate Justice on the SCOTUS bench. I would oppose the confirmation of Biden’s first SCOTUS nomination in any U.S. Senator’s shoes. That is why I rather prefer Judge J. Michelle Childs of South Carolina as if President Biden wants to nominate a black woman with the fair, balanced and commonsense philosophy for the SCOTUS position. Childs would receive more bipartisan votes than Jackson. Childs is more qualified with strong judicial experience and fairness on both sides than Jackson! Of course, I am extremely disappointed in President Biden for selecting the ultra-liberal judge. Yikes!
I wish Judge Jackson nothing but good luck on her confirmation in the U.S. Senate.
